Tuesday Tip #8 – The power of first impressions

It’s 2017 and suddenly the business world is changing rapidly due to the likes of Facebook, Instagram & LinkedIn.

People are no longer identified by a job title in an organisation.  Everyone is their own individual brand.  People are changing jobs every 2 years on average – The Foundation of young Australian’s estimated that millennials will have up to 17 different jobs and 5 career changes in their lifespan.

So whichever way you slice and dice it, that’s adds up to a LOT of first impressions.

When you meet someone for the first time, their brain will only give you one tenth of a second until you are judged…and it’s a stubborn stain, it is difficult to erase that first impression. And for the time-poor, we often don’t have that time to invest.

The impact of making a positive first impression will set the tone for how people not only perceive you, but how they treat you and how they will engage with you.
